Question: Why did you apply for a job at Bank of Bermuda?

Answer: I applied to the Graduate Development Programme (GDP) because unlike other programmes the Bank took the time to tailor the programme to each person’s unique interests and career goals. I also was drawn to the 4 week training course in England, as well as the fact that I would have the opportunity to fast track my career in two years.

What do you like most about your job?

Answer: I love that I have had the opportunity to interact with senior management. I also enjoyed the unique opportunity I was afforded through the GDP, to rotate through different departments within my division in order to gain a deep understanding of the fundamental elements of my division

Question: What areas of the Bank have you experienced so far?

Answer: Thus far I have had the opportunity to work within the Payments and Cash Management Division's processing, client service, implementation, and sales & product departments. I have also had a chance to work with departments that we interact with on a daily basis, which enabled me to grasp how important it is for departments to work together cohesively.  The training I received on the GDP prepared me for the Sales position I currently hold within our Payments and Cash Management Division.

Question: How has this job helped you in your career development?

Answer: Overall, in terms of growth and development, my job has afforded me opportunities beyond my expectations. Through the GDP, I was given opportunities to work on projects which enabled me to develop my networking, teamwork and project management skills. I have had direct and regular access to senior leaders at the Bank, and I was also given the opportunity to travel and network with people from HSBC offices all over the world.

Question: Do you have any words of wisdom regarding careers?

Answer: I would strongly recommend the GDP as an ideal choice for high achievers who are determined to be successful and who require an employer that will provide the necessary resources.  I would recommend that anyone who is interested in working for an employer that is committed to empowering employees through training and enhancement of professional skills to apply to Bank of Bermuda.
